‘Project Runway’ alum alert!
Attention “Project Runway” fans: Austin Scarlett, a fan favorite from season one of the hit Bravo show, will make a handful of public appearances Friday, Jan. 5, to Sunday, Jan. 7, at Catan Fashions in Strongsville. The charismatic designer will show his fall 2007 line for the luxury bridal label Kenneth Pool and will meet the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Miss Ohio alert!
Catan Fashions also will host a send-off for Miss Ohio, Melanie Murphy of Brook Park, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7. Murphy will be showcasing her Miss America competition wardrobe, which Catan Fashions has provided, as well as previewing the talent presentation she’ll do for the Miss America judges. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. A $25 donation to the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program is requested. The Miss America competition has been moved from September to January and will take place in Las Vegas instead of Atlantic City, N.J. Bridal fairs gearing up
Did he pop the big question during the holidays? Help is on the way - Today’s Bride magazine will host two bridal fairs in January. On Sunday, Jan. 7, in Akron, the Bridal Fair will take over the John S. Knight Convention Center, 77 E. Mill St. Admission per person is $8. On Sunday, Jan. 14, the fair comes to the International Exposition Center, 6200 Riverside Drive, Cleveland. Also $8 at the door. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with fashion shows planned throughout the day.
